Our top Hilton Head vacation rental tips and tricks:

Finding your perfect vacation home:

  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to pick the perfect rental home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Large Three Bedroom Townhome Close to the Beach! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .

More tips for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or appliance. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. message the rental manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at departure. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
