Tips to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To book the most suitable rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Make a plan and pick the right Hilton Head vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Water view retreat with balcony, beach gear, pools, tennis, hot tub, & gym has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you are crazy about, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
