- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Booking your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines contain deals for nearby tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select your vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Spacious Villa with Shared Pool, Hot tub & Lagoon Views - Walk to Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you love, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.

- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
