How to book the best rental experience:

Finding your perfect rental:

  • The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Summer is high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to choose and book the perfect Hilton Head vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. 3 Bedroom Ranch Style Home located on 13th hole of Robert Trent Jones Course! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your phone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Upon arrival, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
