Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. To get the best value, consider shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Selecting and booking a perfectrental home:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Dog-friendly island escape near the beach with pool, water view & WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Note any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent resource to find the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Please make sure to walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a excellent time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
