Our top Rental home tips:
Money saving strategies:
- The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your rental six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Selecting and booking yourvacation home:
- Begin by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Dog-friendly island escape near the beach with pool, water view & WiFi has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what is right for your vacation family.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking
More considerations:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many problems.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the property at check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good feedback to compel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
