Tricks and tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
How to choose the best vacation rental:
- Begin by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Dog Friendly has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, reach out to the host before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what is suitable for your vacation group.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
More considerations:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be respectful. Often, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
