Getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:

  • The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Booking your vacation rental in Fall or Spring months is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select your vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Condo with shared pool\/hot tub and tennis court, free WiFi, walk to the beach has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible online. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are crazy about, search for properties that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before booking

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Note any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
