Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

How to get the best value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the most suitable vacation home within budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting the perfect rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your family agree to a vacation week and a budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Classic Ranch-Style with Private Pool & Spa, Near the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your family.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
  • Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. Get in touch with the host immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
