Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Book your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines have discounts for local accommodations and attractions.

How to choose the best vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select your vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Brand-new home with Peloton workout bike & office area - stroll to the beach has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out what is right for your vacation family.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must reserve a property that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you simply love, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves spoil your holiday.
  • Record any damages to the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
