Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a max budget.

More tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, record any problem areas upon check in. Make contact with the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great ratings to drive more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
