Tips to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best vacation home within budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 2-story house with private heated outdoor pool, stunning views & foosball has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the host before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many issues.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. text the host right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a excellent vacation? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
