Booking the best rental home experience:
Get the most from your spending budget:
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- To find the best rental home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Select a group lead, choose your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beautifully Renovated Retreat w\/ Direct Ocean Views
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
Have a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
