Tricks and tips to get the optimal rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking your vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing your prefectrental:
- Begin by selecting your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oceanfront condo with pools, hot tubs, fitness room, & central AC has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, contact the property management company before you book your home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your vacation family.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for a great stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll enhance your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
