Finding the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
When to book & When to go:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To book the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Hilton Head restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Select vacation dates and maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Completely Updated Two Bedroom Condominium with Sweeping Marina Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for a terrific stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if damages are assessed.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
