Our top Hilton Head rental property booking tips:

When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To get the best rental for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Hilton Head area magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Filter your rental search:

  • Choose a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Completely Updated Two Bedroom Condominium with Sweeping Marina Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head beach you crave, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Upon arrival, record any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
