How to book the best Hilton Head rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Selecting and booking the perfectvacation home:
- Begin by choosing your trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Beautifully Decorated Home with Lagoon and Golf Course Views! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your family.
- Is your family looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
During your stay:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
