How to find the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Finding your perfect rental home:
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To book the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Beautifully Decorated First Floor Condo with Ocean, Lagoon and Pool Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible online. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
More considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
