Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. To book the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours and attractions.

Finding the best rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • First and foremost, have your group select date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautifully Decorated First Floor Condo with Ocean, Lagoon and Pool Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's an individual Hilton Head beach you simply love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make sure that damages are not linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
  • Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
