Strategies for getting the perfect vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- The earlier you can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
- Some property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. A Quiet Beach Getaway with Pools, Hot Tub, Tennis Courts, and Private Patio has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- Does your group require specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
Advice for a great stay:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
