Finding the best rental experience:
Getting the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation home in Hilton Head:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beautiful Three Bedroom Villa with Many Updates! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or might be applied to your contract.
During your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all of your things. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best vacation rental. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
