How to book the best Hilton Head rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies typically offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Make a plan and choose the right Hilton Head rental:

  • Select your dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Lovely Three Bedroom Villa close to everything! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. Otherwise, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you looking for special amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of issues.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
