Tricks and tips to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Advice for your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the property when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected everything. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
