Getting the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select your vacation dates and max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Family-friendly condo with balcony, outdoor pool, central AC, & washer\/dryer has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email or call the host before booking your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
More tips for your stay:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a terrific time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
