Tips and Tricks to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental home budget:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Book your Hilton Head rental in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property management companies sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing a perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Two Bedroom First Floor Single-Level Villa with Pond and Golf Course Views! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, email the host before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Considerations for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. text the property manager immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget any personal items. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
