Tricks and tips to get the very best rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
- Summer is high season in Hilton Head. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides contain money saving offers on local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental home:
- To start, have your family commit to the best dates and a max budget.
- 3-Min Walk to Surf
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property management company before you reserve your rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the host's information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Record any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a wonderful vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
