Tips and Tricks to get the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Fall or Spring is a great way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Select your dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. Just Steps to the Beach and Oceanfront Bar and Grill! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available online. If you don't see them listed, email or call the host before you book your rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you love, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your stay:
- Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Note any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately contact the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if damages are assessed.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
