Getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best value, try changing your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers often offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Selecting and booking the bestvacation home:

  • Select vacation dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Wonderful Three Bedroom Home on the 11-Mile Lagoon! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible online. If not, contact the property management company before you book the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental

Some things to know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to record your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
