Tips for getting the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:

Find your best deal:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Property managers frequently offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

How to select the perfect vacation home in the Hilton Head area:

  • Begin by selecting vacation dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Water-view condo with pool, hot tub, gym, tennis, AC & W\/D has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. If not, email the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
  • To make sure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors disrupting your peace. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great feedback to inspire more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
