Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guides which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose vacation week and max budget.
- St. Andrews 1772 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before booking the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
