Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the best rental home value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Book your rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Some property management companies offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:

  • Select dates and max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Sunset Rentals
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the host before reserving the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
  • If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
  • Upon check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • On check-out day, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a terrific time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
