Tips to get the perfect rental experience:
When to go & When to book:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have deals for local shops and restaurants.
How to select the perfect rental:
- First, have your group select date ranges and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 105 Barrington Arms- Totally Updated Oceanfront Condominium! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a rental that allows animals. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Know before you go:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, note any problem areas during arrival. text the rental manager right away to record your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
