Strategies to get the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer time is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

How to select the best rental home:

  • Choose vacation week and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Sunny & bright, dog-friendly condo w\/ golf course view plus shared pool & tennis has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your trip.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
  • If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you crave, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
  • Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
  • Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Double-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
