How to get the best vacation property experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- To start, have your family select the best dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Stunning oceanview condo w\/ a shared pool, hot tub, & tennis, plus beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email or call the host before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your invoice.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. text the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review.
