Getting the best vacation home experience:
When to book a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking your Hilton Head vacation home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is a good way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides have money saving offers on nearby shops and restaurants.
Narrow your rental Search:

- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Townhouse Ideally Located Close to Beach w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, AC, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available online. If not, contact the property manager before you reserve the vacation home. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you long to visit, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your visit, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback.
