How to find the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is a great way to save on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain money saving offers on nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to pick the best rental home:
- First, have your family commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Townhouse Ideally Located Close to Beach w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, AC, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or may be applied to your agreement.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many problems.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
