Rental home booking tips and tricks:
How to get the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. To find the best value, change your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides have money saving offers on local tours and attractions.
Planning and picking the best Hilton Head vacation home:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Townhouse Ideally Located Close to Beach w\/Shared Pool, Free WiFi, AC, W\/D has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible online. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Add the host's contact info to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to inspire new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
