Tricks and tips for getting the best vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Summer months are high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your rental property in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier your group can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Many property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First and foremost, have your family choose vacation dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Stunning Condo in Plantation Club with Views of the Golf Course and On-site Amenities! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is almost always accessible online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or costs may be applied to your contract.
More tips for your visit:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peaceful neighborhood. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to drive new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
