Strategies to get the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
When to book & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner your group can book, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved early. Reserving your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- To find the best rental home for your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Begin by choosing potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 2 story townhouse w\/ stairs, Dog-friendly ,golf course views, pool, beach nearby has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you must reserve a pet-friendly rental. Get details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your phone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Keep the property locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
