Strategies for getting the perfect Hilton Head vacation home experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines that include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning, selecting, and booking the perfectrental home:

  • Start by selecting potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. New to the Rental Market! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Hilton Head destination you love, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your . We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
