How to find the best Hilton Head rental home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer their guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Make a plan and pick your Hilton Head rental:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Spacious, Renovated House with Private Spa and Private Pool has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before booking your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Hilton Head attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- To make certain that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
