Finding the best Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. To find the best value, shift your trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and picking your prefectrental:
- First and foremost, have your group select dates and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Tropical Condo with Pool, Hot Tub, Lagoon Views from Balcony - Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Hilton Head beach you are crazy about, look for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Just prior to departing, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
