Tips to get the optimal rental home experience:

Get the most from your rental budget:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To book the best vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Hilton Head restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Hilton Head area travel guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

How to select the perfect vacation home in Hilton Head:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Tropical Condo with Pool, Hot Tub, Lagoon Views from Balcony - Beach Access has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before you reserve the property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your family.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the property management company about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

Tips for your stay:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your vacation home while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your stay, note any problem areas during arrival. Get in touch with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
