Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Ocean Front Rated #1 BEACH FRONT “The Copper Roof Mansion” has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available online. If not, email or call the property management company before booking the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain no damages are linked to your visit, note any problem areas during check in. message the property manager immediately to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't leave anything behind. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback find their best rental home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
