Getting the best Hilton Head vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking your Hilton Head vacation rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours and attractions.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- First, have your family choose trip dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your group needs. New to the Rental Market! has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If not, email the host before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager right away to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a great vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
