Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is a great way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable properties.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
How to select the best vacation rental in the Hilton Head area:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Quiet Waterfront Condo with WiFi - Pools & Hot Tub On-Site has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More tips for your visit:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- At departure, take a final walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a fantastic stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
