- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
