Tips to get the perfect Hilton Head vacation rental experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning and picking yourrental:
- Choose a designated group leader, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Quiet Getaway with Pools, Hot tub, Tennis Courts, and Ocean Views has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property management company before you reserve the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what configuration is optimal for your trip.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're away. Protect your property!
- Upon arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
