Finding the best Hilton Head vacation property experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- June, July, and August are high season in Hilton Head. To get the largest rental for your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at the beach and popular Hilton Head attractions.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked very early. Reserving your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Luxurious Oceanfront Multi-level - 5 Bed\/5.5 Bath Home in Sea Pines with pool has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is right for your trip.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Additional considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- During check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
