Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- To get the best value, consider changing your vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer great temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Booking websites typically offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Begin by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with WiFi, pool, hot tub & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, email the host before you reserve the vacation property. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head destination you simply love, browse properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- During arrival, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a fantastic time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
