Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • The earlier you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • June, July, and August are high season in the Hilton Head area. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Make a plan and pick yourrental home:

  • To start, have your family choose dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration you need. Oceanfront condo with WiFi, pool, hot tub & beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If not, contact the host before booking the vacation property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

Know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the host right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
