Strategies to get the very best vacation rental experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our best tip for saving money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Charming condo with shared pool and tennis - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available on booking pages. If not, call the property owner before reserving your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Hilton Head attraction you are enamored with, keep an eye out for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a rental that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. E-mail the rental manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your holiday.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a great time? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
