Tips for getting the best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Planning and choosing the bestrental:

  • Begin by choosing the best vacation week and a max budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Charming condo with shared pool and tennis - walk to the beach has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email or call the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. .

During your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let thieves spoil your family vacation.
  • During check-in, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property managers rely on great feedback to stimulate more reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
