How to get the best Hilton Head rental experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • In the Hilton Head area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Hilton Head area. Reserve your Hilton Head vacation home in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites frequently offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many management companies supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Planning and picking the right Hilton Head rental home:

  • First, have your family choose the best dates and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Couples Retreat, Dog Friendly, Private enclosed courtyard has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rentals allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Tips to have a smooth stay:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • To ensure that no damages are attributed to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
