Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:
- Summer months are the most expensive season in Hilton Head. Reserve your Hilton Head rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Hilton Head visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Planning and picking the perfect Hilton Head vacation home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Couples Retreat, Dog Friendly, Private enclosed courtyard has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
More tips for your stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- Upon arrival, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great time? Most rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
