Our top Hilton Head vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Finding the best rental value:
- Summer time is high season in the Hilton Head area. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Some owners offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local Hilton Head visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines have coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental:
- Start by having your family decide on dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group needs. Couples Retreat, Dog Friendly, Private enclosed courtyard has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To ensure that no damages are attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas during arrival. Make contact with the host immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would at home.
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget any personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
