Tips and Tricks to get the very best Hilton Head rental home experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your rental home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Hosts sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guides that include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Choosing the perfect vacation rental:

  • Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Bright Condo with Full Kitchen, Shared Pools, Hot Tub, Beach Access, and More has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking websites. If not, call the host before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your agreement.

More tips for your visit:

  • Get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. Contact the host immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
