Rental property booking tips and tricks:

Finding the best rental value:

  • Summer months are high season in Hilton Head. To find the most suitable rental home for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
  • In the Hilton Head area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are booked early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

  • First, have your group select dates and a max budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family needs. 3rd-floor snowbird-friendly condo with pool, tennis, volleyball, gym, & balcony has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the owner's contact info to your phone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Upon arrival, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the property when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
