Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Hilton Head rental experience:

When to book a Hilton Head rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in Hilton Head. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save on your rental home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Hilton Head area magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

How to choose and book your prefectrental home:

  • Choose your dates and budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Oceanfront Condo with Ocean View, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub, and Nearby Beach Access has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head vacation rental search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is regularly available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before reserving the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what configuration is suitable for your trip.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Make a record of any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect your property!
  • Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
