Hilton Head rental home tips:
How to get the best value:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Hilton Head area. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers frequently offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Often, property management companies supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which often include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your search:
- To start, have your group agree to a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Open condo with pool, tennis, wooded balcony & central AC - close to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available online. If not, email the property manager before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what is best for your vacation group.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or applied to your contract.
- If there's an individual Hilton Head destination you love, look for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
More tips for your visit:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Add a note with the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're out! Don't let burglars ruin your trip.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be a fantastic source for finding the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the host is not available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
