Tricks and tips for getting the perfect Hilton Head rental home experience:
Get the best rental value:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in Hilton Head. To find the best value, change your family's Hilton Head trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Hilton Head vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitor guide magazines which often include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning and choosing the perfect Hilton Head rental:
- Choose your vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Open condo with pool, tennis, wooded balcony & central AC - close to the beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Hilton Head rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before you reserve the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to establish what is suitable for your trip.
- Is your group looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone.
- At Check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can typically help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items at check-out. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best vacation home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
