Tricks and tips to get the best rental experience:
When to reserve a Hilton Head rental & When to go:
- In the Hilton Head area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are booked early. Booking your rental property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
- To find the best value, try changing your family's Hilton Head vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warm weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Hilton Head area visitors guide magazines which will include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or through a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Hilton Head area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
